Collaborative Arts Theatre is pleased to present the Mid-Atlantic regional premiere of Donald Margulies’ Time Stands Still. This critically acclaimed drama from the Pulitzer Prize winning author of Dinner with Friends and Collected Stories recently finished a highly successful run on Broadway.

Alternating between comedy and drama, Time Stands Still follows Sarah and James, a photojournalist and a foreign correspondent used to covering wars and world conflict who are now trying to find happiness in a “normal” world. Theirs is a partnership based on telling the toughest stories and together, making a difference. But when their own story takes a sudden turn, the adventurous couple confronts the prospect of a more conventional life... and everything changes - in a flash.

We are thrilled to be able to present the regional premiere of this outstanding new play. The intimacy of the Duke Energy Theatre will allow you to experience Time Stands Still in a way that wasn’t possible with the Broadway run. Our unique configuration of the performance space means that audience members will be able to immerse themselves in the world of the characters and experience every nuance of their emotional journey.

Time Stands Still brings together Collaborative Arts Theatre’s founders along with talented professionals under the direction of Robert Lutfy. Lutfy recently served as assistant director for The Charlotte Shakespeare Festival’s critically acclaimed King Lear and has directed in NYC as well as in Charlotte for last year’s production of Sunset Limited with 3M Productions.

The cast includes Artistic Director Elise Wilkinson in the role of Sarah, the photojournalist; Eric Tucker, director of Collaborative Arts’ production of Women of Will, as James, Sarah’s partner and a war journalist; Managing Director Joe Copley as Richard, Sarah’s and James’ editor and best friend; and Ali Bill, recent UNCSA grad, as Mandy, Richard’s much younger girlfriend.
